The Penn State Alumni Association

What’s been happening:

Where would I begin? I've lived in Australia for three years, taken two round-the-world trips, visited 21 countries, covered virtually every big sporting event there is as a sportswriter, won the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism and two national APSE writing awards. The big news now is that I have released my first book, "Pink Lips and Fingertips." It is a story of radical faith in the midst of a medical death sentence -- the true story of a woman born with a rare heart defect, and how she impacted the world instead of doing The Bucket List adventure. On a personal note, the two most important things in my life are my faith and my son. I never realized that it could be so wonderful to look at life through the eyes of an imaginative boy. I look back on my days at Penn State and realize profoundly that I could not have picked a better school. Not just for the academic excellence and the beauty of State College, but for the poignant memories that remain etched in my soul. Living in Texas, it's such a treat to go back there every few years and take my son to the Creamery, Beaver Stadium, the Diner, Old Main. He can feel a powerful connection. If we lived closer, I'm pretty sure he'd go there in 2014. But even if he doesn't, he'll remain one of their biggest fans.
